Advanced Band Receives Excellent Rating at Music in the Parks

Once at the school in Middletown, the band warmed up.  They performed mid-morning between an orchestral section of stringed instruments, and a choral group.  After a selection to warm up, the students played two pieces for adjudication or judgement.

Following their performance, Mr. Osment exclaimed, "I thought the kids sounded great! It was the best they have played all year."  The judges must have agreed with him because they gave our band an "Excellent" rating.  Slade's Advanced Band was also named the Overall Junior High/Middle School Band winner.

After a difficult two years of virtual instruction and limitations due to COVID-precautions, Mr. Osment was very proud.  He said, "I think of how the band sounded in October compared to how we sounded yesterday; they were amazing!"

Come out on Thursday, May 19, 2022 to enjoy our spring concert featuring the band and the Showchoir.  The performance will begin at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.  All are welcome to attend; masking is a matter of personal preference.

I was so proud of the kids yesterday.  It has been a difficult 2 years for everyone.  I think of how the band sounded back in October and how we sounded yesterday, they were amazing.  I will see everyone at our concert on Thursday evening and I will bring both of the trophies to display.
